Police Services

The Police Services Division has a broad range of responsibilities including community relations, officer training, Reserve Officer Program, Citizen Police Academy Program, Neighborhood Watch, special events and employee hiring and recruitment. This division also oversees the communications center and the jail. This division is the point of contact for all community events and presentations and also offers a variety of ways for the members of our community to regularly interact with the police.

Uniform Patrol

The largest division of the Germantown Police Department, the Uniform Patrol Division is made up of highly trained officers who patrol the city 24/7, respond to calls for service and perform preventive patrols to protect life and property. This division also includes School Resource Officers, DUI enforcement, the critical injury crash investigation team, the canine unit and the SWAT team.

Criminal Investigations

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating all criminal incidents reported to the Germantown Police Department. This includes crime scene processing and collection, evidence preservation and storage, crime and trend analysis and records management and data entry. Department detectives participate in prosecutions in court and with State and Federal Grand Juries. This division also works with many local, state and federal agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, ATF and others on task forces and other law enforcement efforts.

Communications

Working with state-of-the-art equipment, the Communications Division is responsible for dispatching all police, fire and EMS calls and monitoring police and fire radios. The Communications Center is the answering point for the city’s 911 calls.
